92. Tower Resort, Tower Marina

The tower that gave Tower Marina its name.

This “Eyeful Tower” was part of the popular 1920s Terrace Park Resort, that grew out of the Captain Walter D. Hamilton estate built in the late 1800s. High on the hill overlooking Lake Kalamazoo, the tower was a local landmark until it was demolished in the 1980s. The property is now part of the Harbor Court condominium village.

In the mid 1960s, the rest of the Hamilton estate was developed into a marina by R.E. Peterson and named Tower Marine. Until 2020, the marina was run by Roland’s son R.J. Peterson. In 2022, the property was sold by R.J.s son Matt Peterson to Safe Harbor Marinas along with Saugatuck Yacht Service and the Red Dock.
